I’ve spent months travelling and living in Indonesia; currently, I’m on Gili Meno, part of Lombok, and I absolutely love it here. The island is idyllic and excellent for disconnecting from the “Bali bubble”.
Leaving Bali behind, the country becomes rawer, more rugged and more unique. People are welcoming, and the landscapes are flawless. Indonesia consists of over 17,000 islands, so it’s perfect for a lesser-travelled backpacking route.
There are endless provinces to explore, but a few of my favourites include Sumatra and Lombok. Here, life moves more slowly and feels more genuine. If you’re after an adventure, travelling in Indonesia is by far the best option.
