Welcome

What makes me someone you can trust for travel advice? If you are wondering, let me share some of my story and travel history with you.

Since I was little, we have always taken holidays abroad, helped in part by my mama, who is Colombian, and my father British. We would take family holidays to Venezuela, where she grew up.

It was a magical time, surrounded by sorely missed family and newly made friends. For weeks at a time, we would visit Isla Margarita, a small Caribbean island, building sand castles, swimming in turquoise waters, digging for cockles under the waves, visiting markets, and immersing ourselves in Latino culture.

This kick-started my travelling lust, and I became obsessed with the world.

When I was 18, I left home to backpack Australia on my Gap Year, where I stayed for three years. Following Oz, I lived for two years in the Middle East (between Bahrain and Dubai) before returning home to finish my studies.

1 year into university, the travelling bug took hold again, and I was off to South America. 2015 was the first time I set foot in the country where my mum was born, although a trip to Venezuela was not possible due to the turbulent political situation.

A year later, I was back at university. I did what society said I should. I finished uni, got a job, and began the 9-5 life. Let’s just say it was not for me. During this time, between semesters, I also spent time in India, Sierra Leone, and other places.

A few years into that career, which I enjoyed even though I knew it was not my path, I met Jack, and a year later, COVID-19 hit the world. During that time, furloughed at my home and going completely mad, I happened upon a “start your own travel blog” course.

Needless to say, my soul jumped at the possibility. I mused on the idea of a life of travel. And, so it began.

After the world began opening and the looming reality of returning to the office hit me, I decided (alongside my then-partner Jack) it was time to leave the UK.

In no time, we had quit our jobs, put the house up for rent, and were ready to head out for a year of world adventure. We visited Southeast Asia, Hawaii, and Central America and took another visit to Colombia, this time together.

We then decided to fly home a couple of months early and convert a van into a home so we could travel Europe. After a year, we spent 4 months travelling around Europe, mainly Italy and France.

Over the last two decades, I’ve gained an immeasurable amount of experience in travel: backpacking, planning road trips, solo and group travel, and all the rest that comes with travelling for 20+ years.

P.S. I’m currently living on Gili Meno, Indonesia. 🤗

It’s safe to say I have done a lot of travelling. I have visited over 45 countries, lived overseas, and backpacked extensively. With this in mind, I can provide travel expertise to help you plan an epic holiday.

What You Can Expect From Me?

I focus a lot on writing content about my experiences, budgeting, and the best ways to appreciate each country.

Think current, up-to-date travel and insider knowledge. Learn what to expect from cultural immersion to backpacking and living overseas. That’s essentially what I did throughout the whole of Asia and South America.

I stayed in some wonderful places, ate dodgy-looking street food and rode in rust buckets just so I could live my best life, climb volcanoes and visit breathtaking national parks.

The blog is mainly aimed at offbeat travel and road trips!

If you want to know how to live in Bali on a budget, how to ride a scooter and feel safe or even travel around Thailand visiting national parks and historical landmarks, then you’re in the right place!

much love, Abi

What Is My Favourite Place?

I always get asked where was my favourite place to visit.

I always say, “So far, Colombia, Italy, and Indonesia have stolen my heart”. They are ultimately the three countries I have enjoyed the most, and I just recommend visiting them to everyone! I also loved Hawaii (USA), and I want to spend more time there.
