Where To Stay In Boquete Panama: Hotels By Budget
Boquete is a lovely town high in the mountains of Panama. Since it’s in a central location, it makes for a great stop when exploring the country. It’s actually a really superb place to visit if you enjoy hiking, wildlife and outdoor adventure.
It’s a pretty mesmerising place with natural beauty and because of this, it does attract many tourists. This means it does have a good selection of accommodations to suit all budget types.
Keep in mind that Panama isn’t necessarily one of the most budget-friendly destinations, especially when you compare it to places in Southeast Asia. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t find good hotel deals in Boquete, because you can!

Let’s start with the most affordable hotel options in Boquete, Panama of which there are many. Boquete is well and truly on the backpacking route in Panama and many of the accommodations in the area reflect that.

✔️Agartha Hostel and Camping
Amir and his mum really go all out to make this place feel more like a friend’s house than a hostel. It’s a super chilled, friendly place to stay in Boquete with an international crowd and interesting people.
Agartha Hostel and Camping is located a 7-minute drive from central Boquete, where the bus will drop you off, or a 45-minute walk. It’s more likely you will need to arrange a taxi to take you there but you will find many in the plaza – Domingo Medica Park – when you arrive.
The good thing about staying out of town is you’ll be surrounded by nature and have a relaxing and peaceful experience in Boquete. There are two hikes nearby the hostel and it’s somewhere you’re sure to make friends.

✔️Agaseke Lodge Boquete
If you’re looking for a hostel in a central location you won’t get better than Agaseke Lodge Boquete. It’s only a 5-minute walk from the bus drop-off location but since it’s off the main street it’s still in a quiet area.
It’s a great little find with three sleeping options: a mixed-bed dormitory, which is your most affordable option, and double rooms to a family room.
The hosts are kind-hearted and friendly people who go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. They will be able to recommend the best hikes and things to do in Boquete, sort out tours and also arrange shuttles to other cities such as Bocas del Toro for a really good rate!

✔️Bambuda Castle
Fancy staying in a castle? Or maybe you’d prefer a hobbit’s house! The biggest novelty hotel in Boquete Panama is the Bambuda Castle. It’s located a 50-minute walk from the town centre but has stunning scenery which makes up for it being outside of the town.
This hostel is super friendly with more of a hotel vibe. There are options to stay in dormitories, private rooms or bungalows.including a hobbit house
A winning feature of Bambuda Castle is it has a bar, swimming pool and hot tub! It’s also surrounded by coffee plantations and overlooks Volcan Baru. The hostel will happily arrange tours and transportation for you but there are lots of social activities on site such as a games room, movie room, walking tours and bike rentals.
You will need to catch a taxi to some of the more popular hikes and the nearest supermarket is in Boquete town. It will cost around $2-$4 dollars for a one-way trip so just keep this in mind if you do decide to stay here.

✔️Selina Boquete
You can find the Selina Hotels in almost any popular destination worldwide, Panama certainly has many of them. If you haven’t come across a Selina hotel yet, their hospitality brand focuses on building a blended infrastructure of accommodation, coworking, recreation, wellness and local experiences.
Luckily, one of the best hotels in Boquete Panama is a Selina! Located in Boquete town Selina Boquete is in one of the most central locations on this list and still fits into the affordability category.
It’s worth noting that the rooms can be a bit noisy, especially if they are located near the common areas or the road. So, make sure to request a room in the back.

However, you can expect friendly staff and a welcoming, social environment. The hostel feels more like a hotel – especially if you’re in one of the rooms rather than the dorms. It’s a great space for meeting people and digital nomads with ample space to set up for the day.

Would you rather stay in your own room? I know travelling as a couple we certainly needed our own space sometimes. There are a handful of budget hotel options in Boquete Panama too!
✔️Pension Topaz
I wanted to give you the option of Pension Topaz as it’s the most affordable double room option in Boquete. The reviews are good although not fantastic as it sounds like it might need some updating.
That being said, most people are agreeing it’s a cosy hotel with a nice atmosphere and outdoor area. It’s in a great location, very close to the centre of Boquete town and has friendly staff who are happy to arrange tours and make recommendations.

✔️Agaseke Lodge Boquete
We’ve already discussed Agaseke Lodge Boquete above but I wanted to bring it to your attention again. They do offer private rooms which fit budget stays and they also have family rooms.
This hotel really is one of the better budget options with the highest reviews in central Boquete especially if you are travelling with your family or friends.

Mid-Range Accommodation Options In Boquete
So now we come to the mid-range hotels in Boquete, Panama. Once we reach this budget it becomes possible to book private rooms and entire apartments.
👉 The affordability averages around $100 but remember, that’s for the room, so if there are two of you it’s half-price!
Average Hotel Accommodation
✔️ Villa Alejandro
Located in the heart of Boquete town and is known for its beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and excellent customer service. Villa Alejandro is a really beautiful and friendly place. It’s one of the highest-reviewed hotels in Boquete Panama.
Note: Booking sites note an adults-only accommodation but the host says kids are welcome, so something you might want to check before booking.
Villa Alejandro is surrounded by nature with a lovely garden. The villa features modern decor with all rooms equipped with a private bathroom, air conditioning and flat-screen TVs.
Some of the rooms offer a balcony with a seating area to enjoy the views. There is also a swimming pool, restaurant and bar and has free Wi-Fi. That being said, there is a shared lounge and terrace.
It feels more like a luxury homestay than a hotel and is great value for money with friendly staff and in a central location. It’s one of the top-rated mid-range accommodations in Boquete, Panama.

✔️El Oasis Hotel y Restaurante
This is a great hotel in Boquete with breakfast included located off the main street and tucked away down a quiet road. It’s still close enough to the town’s amenities and daily activities but the thing people are loving most is the garden and location.
Additionally, El Oasis Hotel boasts a top-rated restaurant and an informative, friendly staff. The rooms are cleaned regularly, however, I do advise you to request a room away from the main reception as there have been some noise complaints.
A room with a balcony would also be the best option for this stay as it overlooks the garden. Guests have said they even saw hummingbirds in the garden!

✔️ Selina Boquete
I bring you back to Selina Boquete and the hostel offers a few options for private rooms. The most economical is the Cylinder Room which looks pretty unique and cosy and provides you with your own space.
There are a variety of other rooms ranging from standard queens to family rooms and even an entire apartments.
Note: Lower rates are on the Early Booker Deal through Booking, which means the property is offering discounts for early bookings. You might not get the same rate for last-minute bookings.
Generally, the reviews are positive from guests with many praising the beautiful setting and views of the mountains. The hotel has an outdoor pool and yoga deck and offers great opportunities to relax and unwind.
To top it off, the hotel staff are very friendly and provide a positive, helpful service including tours and recommendations on the area, where to eat and which hikes to go on.

Located in the centre of Boquete this hotel is in a really great location and considering this, it’s a really good price! You can grab yourself a junior suite with a terrace for two people.
Note: The room rate above I found through Booking, although it has come up cheaper at times with Agoda For as little as $79/£66 per night. You can also check Downtown Suites on Agoda here.
The Junior Suite comes with a private patio where you can admire the garden view which included flowers and fruit trees. You’ll also have your own private bathroom, coffee machine and of course free Wi-Fi. There are cooking facilities: fridge, microwave and kitchenware so you can be completely self-catered.

✔️Casa Ejecutiva Boquete
One of the best-reviewed hotels in Boquete Panama! Casa Ejecutiva Boquete is a superb option for those of you that want to be a little out of town and surrounded by beautiful mountain views.
Note: The room rate above I found through Booking, although it has come up cheaper at times with Agoda for as little as $89/£74 per night. You can also check Casa Ejecutiva on Agoda here.
You can rent the whole apartment for $89 however if you want panoramic mountain views it will be $115/£95 (although you still get some mountain views at a lower rate).
The rooms are spacious and include a desk with comfortable beds. The apartment has everything you need to make your stay convenient including a fridge, microwave, utensils and TV.
To get to town it’s a 20-minute walk down a path or a $7 taxi ride, but you know this before you go so just consider this when booking. The hostess is very friendly and helpful and you’ll have good Wi-Fi, there’s even a herb garden on the grounds!
Keep in mind there is a $15 late checkout fee.

One of the most super-friendly hotels in Boquete Panama which comes highly recommended is The Riverside Inn. It’s about a 25-minute walk into Boquete town but the location brings a sense of tranquillity to your stay.
The onsite restaurant, known as The Rock, has got amazing reviews too which make it a convenient place to have a few meals without needing to head into town all the time.
The hotel is cosy and feels more like a bed and breakfast. Rooms are equipped with comfortable bed and bedding, well-functioning AC, and private bathrooms and the common area even has a fireplace and a self-service mini-bar!
The Riverside Inn would make a great stay if you want something a little more homely but still luxurious and convenient. If you have a car it’s a 5-minute drive into town.

A little further up the road and with breakfast included is the Boquete Garden Inn. One of the top-rated hotels in Boquete, you won’t get better service in Panama than here. The hosts, Kevin and Abel go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable.
Although it’s about 3km out of town it’s one of the best hotels to choose from if you love wildlife and bird watching. The garden is a little piece of paradise which attracts lots of birds and butterflies which you can enjoy watching during breakfast.
The room is also well-equipped and spacious. If you can, opt for the terrace, as you’ll be able to sit out there and watch the wildlife. You can even arrange for your breakfast on-the-go if you’re planning an early morning hike!

Entire Apartment
✔️Coffee Estate Inn
If you’re looking for an entire apartment the Coffee Estate Inn offers beautiful bungalows for only $170/£141. If you wanted to add breakfast, you can for $8/£6. The rooms are fresh, modern and clean however you will need a car if you’re staying here.
Due to its location in the hills, you’ll have lovely views over the mountains and wildlife but also plenty of privacy as it’s in quite a secluded location. You can walk into town but expect about 45 minutes of a hilly journey!
The staff at the Coffee Estate Inn are very helpful in helping you arrange tours and transport. There is fresh coffee every day, good Wi-Fi and you’ll also have basic amenities in your room such as a microwave and fridge. This hotel is also noted as being baby friendly.

✔️La Residencia by Villa Alejandro
Another one which guests are loving is La Residencia by Villa Alejandro. It’s a branch of the Villa Alejandro mentioned above but La Residencia is catered towards more luxury stays. The photos for this hotel in Boquete Panama indeed look exquisite and especially the deluxe bungalow.
You’ll get a deluxe bungalow with a garden view all to yourself. The rooms look modern and cosy with a touch of Art Deco. You’ll get everything expected from having your own bungalow including a comfy large double bed, kitchenette, hot plate and utensils.
The bungalows are close to a small river which runs through the property and is surrounded by nature. It’s more likely than not you’ll be falling asleep to the sound of water trickling downstream.
It’s only a 20-minute walk into Boquete town where you’ll find all the restaurants and amenities.

Are you looking to stay in Boquete for a month or longer? The best way to do this is to use sites such as Airbnb or Vrbo. We really like to use Vrbo as they have great options and provide a 30% discount on stays over 30 days.

✔️Selina Boquete – Budget
Selina Boquete comes up again (can you tell we enjoyed our stay there!) but for digital nomads, it really is one of the best places to stay.
✔️Casa Valhalla – Mid-Range
My first recommendation using Vrbo is Casa Valhalla. It’s the best value-for-money house in Boquete and also has the most positive reviews.
Casa Valhalla has everything you could possibly think of to make your stay in Boquete easy, convenient and homely. You’ll have the whole house to yourself in a small complex of 4 bungalows. It’s just like staying at home with a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom and utility.
Its location is perfect for staying in Boquete as it’s only 20 minutes walk into town and surrounded by nature. The property has its own garden with tons of fruit and herbs which you are free to use in your cooking. It’s near a river, comfortable and close to hiking trails.

✔️Ecoresort/Farm – Top-End
If I could choose where to stay in Boquete this would be it, Ecoresort is featured on Vrbo by host Emily. The property is a coffee estate, honeybee and butterfly farm located north of Boquete. It’s quite far from the town but it is very close to the trailheads of many Boquete hikes. If you’re in Boquete to hike, this is the place you want to stay.
As Ecoresort is a working farm unfortunately no children or pets are allowed but it’s perfect for couples who want to escape into nature. That being said, there is good Wi-Fi if you’re needing to connect.
Guests have praised how clean and comfortable Ecoresort is and how much they enjoyed watching the birds from their porches. There are cute bungalows on the property which offer plenty of privacy.

✔️Casa Vista Volcan – Top-End/Family Option
Next up we have the luxury apartment of Casa Vista Volcan which is hosted by Premier Hosts Peter and Sarah on Vrbo which means they consistently provide great experiences for their guests.
The only downside (if you consider being in 1 hectare of garden surrounded by cloud forest a disadvantage) is that the location is in Jaramillo which is a little further away than central Boquete than ideal. It’s a 10-minute drive to downtown Boquete, which is fine if you have a car!
Apart from that, the apartment is spectacular with great attention to detail. The views over the mountains are incredible and it’s a place where you’ll really feel peace and at one with nature.
Although the apartments are self-contained with private entrances the other apartments can be rented in combination accommodating up to 8 guests. So, this is a superb find if you’re travelling with a large family.
Peter and Sarah are friendly, approachable hosts who live on-site and are happy to provide guidance and advice during your stay. P.S. They also have a large friendly dog on the property.

✔️Boquete Apartment – Luxury
Your final option if you did want to stay closer to central Boquete or are travelling with a small family of four is this Boquete Apartment hosted by John. There is a minimum of 3 nights stay but John does offer different rates during the low and peak seasons.
The rates during low season are almost half and if you’re looking to stay from May to November you can grab this property. for much less.
You’ll find John and his staff are very attentive, friendly and happy to help you with whatever you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The location is lovely in a small housing development, so if you feel safer staying in a secure complex this one is for you!

5 Best Locations To Stay In Panama
Most people who visit Boquete are travelling around Panama or at least making a few different stops in the country. Panama was one of our favourite countries and we were happily surprised by its friendliness and beauty.
Not really having done much research before we went, it was more of a transfer point for us leaving Colombia. However, we ended up staying longer and had the best time. It’s a country we would love to revisit – with more time (and money!)
Here are the places we visited while we explored Panama:
✔️Panama City
If you’re going to Panama then you’ll likely be stopping in the capital or at least transferring through. We thought Panama City deserves a few days at least as there are some really nice areas to explore, even if you’re not a city lover.

I really can’t rave more about the San Blas Islands. I had the best sailing trip from Colombia to Panama via the San Blas Islands. They are the epitome of paradise, exactly how you would imagine it.

✔️Playa Venao
Playa Venao is somewhere we learnt about when we arrived in Panama and wasn’t on our list. However, we changed plans and decided to visit the quaint surfing village of Playa Venao for a week of surfing. If you’re looking for an authentic beach spot which is still relatively undeveloped then look no further!

✔️Boquete
Well, you’ve probably already done your research into Boquete so you’ll know it’s one of the best places in Panama for hiking, bird watching and nature experiences. It’s also a top coffee and chocolate producer and a perfect location for outdoor sports and waterfall chasing!

In truth, we decided not to visit Bocas del Toro but only because we had done the San Blas and felt like that was paradise enough!
However, most people do visit Bocas and it is a very popular place to visit in Panama. If you’re heading to Panama then it’s somewhere you might want to consider visiting too.
Is Boquete, Panama Safe For Tourists?
Small towns in Panama like Boquete are always extremely safe. Why? Because the close nite communities and types of travellers who visit these nature spots are (generally) gentle and friendly, earth-loving individuals who are there to enjoy nature.
We felt very safe wandering the streets of Boquete, always getting a friendly wave and not once did we feel unwelcomed. It was a lovely and safe place to be.
The only thing I’d say you need to watch out for are the muddy trails!
