I think this best of Ubud tour is worth it because it takes the stress out of planning while still giving you a really nice mix of what makes Ubud special.
In one day, we visited a monkey forest, rice terraces, a quiet waterfall, the famous Tirta Empul Temple and a peaceful coffee plantation, so it felt varied without ever becoming too much.
For me, that balance is what made it work so well.
Some day trips can feel rushed or overly packed, but this one moved at a comfortable pace and gave us enough time to actually enjoy each stop.
I also liked that there was a little flexibility.
We were originally meant to visit Ubud Monkey Forest, but our guide suggested Sangeh instead, promising calmer monkeys, and I’m really glad we listened because it ended up being one of the highlights of the day.
It also felt like very good value. The tour included all entrance fees and lunch, which I thought was a bargain for such a smooth and easy day out.

My Experience and What You Can Expect
We started the day a little later than planned after my parents overslept, but thankfully our guide, Kojer, was patient and happy to wait while we finished breakfast and got ourselves organised.
From there, the day unfolded really smoothly.
Our first stop was Sangeh Monkey Forest, where we were promised calmer monkeys, and he was absolutely right.
They were surprisingly gentle, playful and far less chaotic than others I’ve encountered in the past at the Ubud Monkey Forest.
Next came Tegalalang Rice Terrace, where I ended up wandering much further than intended along muddy paths and irrigation trails, turning a quick explore into a slightly sweaty little adventure.
After that, we stopped for lunch at D’Uma Sari Warung, which was a real highlight; lovely rice field views, Mount Agung in the distance, and one of the best grilled tilapia meals I had in Bali.
In the afternoon, we visited Ulu Petanu Waterfall, which felt peaceful and manageable – it wasn’t filled with tourists – especially good for my parents who don’t like crowds and not too many steps down.
Afterwards we headed to Tirta Empul Temple, which was wonderfully calm when we visited. Here, you have the option to partake in the Melukat purification ceremony at an extra charge – I didn’t do this here.
We finished the day at Pemulan Bali Coffee Plantation, walking through the gardens, learning about the spices and plants, and ending with a tea and coffee tasting overlooking the forest.
Overall, it was such an easy, varied and enjoyable day out and I really felt that it was totally worthwhile.

- Bring some cash: You may want it for extras like photos, swings, snacks or souvenirs along the way.
- Wear comfortable shoes: The rice terrace paths can be muddy and slippery, especially if it has rained recently.
- Pack swimwear if you want to get in the waterfall: Ulu Petanu is a lovely stop, and it’s nice to have the option of a dip.
- Be flexible with the itinerary: Our guide swapped Ubud Monkey Forest for Sangeh, and honestly I think the day was better for it.
- Do not skip lunch if it’s included: Ours at D’Uma Sari Warung was genuinely excellent, and one of the nicest meals we had on the trip.

It wasn’t perfect; since our guide’s English was a little limited, we didn’t get as much depth or explanation as we might have liked. But he was friendly and genuinely helpful, which still made the day feel easy and enjoyable.
